TATTOO AFTERCARE

-Remove the wrapping from your tattoo 2-3 hours after getting tattooed. If a Derm Shield patch was put on it, you can leave that for up to 24 hours.

-Always wash your hands before touching your tattoo.

-Wash the tattoo with a fragrance-free antibacterial soap before applying any ointment or lotion.

-Pat dry with a clean paper towel. Do not scrub!

- After washing with soap, use a fragrance-free lotion to keep the tattoo moisturized. Use  a pea-sized amount at a time until you have a thin coat over your tattoo. Do this 3-4 times a day. If you notice your tattoo is very dry or itchy, you can use a little more.

-Avoid using excessive amounts of lotion when applying. This makes it hard for the skin to breathe and can cause complications. Use just enough to cover the tattoo with no excess remaining on the skin.

-Avoid submerging the tattoo in bathtubs, pools, hot tubs, creeks, oceans, etc. for at least two weeks after getting your tattoo. Stick to just taking showers during this time.

-Improper aftercare can sometimes lead to a tattoo getting infected. Signs of infection include redness, swelling, intense itchiness, and blisters. If you suspect your tattoo is getting infected, come by and let one of our artists take a look at your tattoo. We can assess what is going on and can advise whether it can be treated on your own or if medical treatment is needed.
